To all local artists (Local: defined as residing within a 65 mile radius of Fort Bragg, California.) interested in a regular or guest membership in Northcoast Artists, a cooperative gallery.
Established as a venue for emerging artists in 1986, Northcoast Artists Gallery differs from a traditional gallery because it is owned and operated by its membership.
Artists have control over what work they wish to exhibit, how it is displayed, and the freedom to explore and grow within their juried medium. Should a member wish to change or add mediums, they can petition the gallery for a review.
Responsibility of an artist member:
1. Pay an initial one time fee ($200) and monthly fee ($85).
2. Sit the galley one-and-a-half days (three shifts) each month.
3. Work on a committee to maintain the function of
the gallery (6-8 hours).
4. Attend monthly meetings, the annual meeting, and opening receptions.
5. Keep your display full with current work.
Responsibility of the gallery:
1. Promote and encourage sales of member's artwork.
2. Provide 88% return on work sold.
3. Feature an artist member in a solo or group show within a two year period.
Please fill out the following application:
Screening:
When we receive your completed application you will be scheduled within three months to meet with the New Members committee. At this time bring 5-8 pieces of your current work, a portfolio or other materials. Be prepared to discuss your technique, vision, and retail prices. The committee will evaluate your application (according to the enclosed guidelines ) and answer any questions you might have about the gallery. After the prescreening you will be informed of the results and either placed on our eligible list or asked to reapply at a later date.
Final Approval:
Gallery openings occur when a member requests a leave of absence or vacates their membership. At that time eligible candidates will be contacted according to their evaluation rating and invited to attend the next general meeting for final approval. A 75% favorable vote by the full gallery membership is required to approve a new artist.
Thank you for your interest in joining us. We look forward to meeting you, seeing your work, and answering any questions that you might have
