Roots and Wings

I grew up in the hills of Willits, California. Finding an interest in painting and drawing early in life helped me shape and define a unique aesthetic. Istudied painting at California College of Arts and Crafts (currently known as California College of Arts) in Oakland, I recieved a BFA in 2003, then decided to return to rural Mendocino county. Painting is a self perpetuating pleasure for me. The more I paint the deeper I learn what painting has to teach me. Often when I begin a canvas or painting project the initial inspiration morphs as the peice developes. In this regard it is a dialogue between the creation and myself.

Magnolia

Much of my work is about observation of nature, I enjoy lines in trees, in this case a Magnolia tree, with the contrast of a sudden burst of bloom.

Red Lantern

Wilson's Warbler

The play of textures and color is a particular interest for me in my work
