I was born in Los Angeles and encouraged by my mother to try anything and by all means pursue my interest in the arts. I received a B.A. in painting from U.C. Berkeley where I was fortunate to have studied with Karl Kasten, Harold Paris and Peter Voulkos, all leading edge artists of their respective techniques during the "60s". I took additional coursework at Chouinard's Art Institute in Los Angeles and the University of Mexico City and after moving to the North Coast continue to explore techniques through workshops and classes offered by the Mendocino Art Center and College of the Redwoods.
I began exhibiting in 1979. My gallery work has included unique and limited editions of bronze sculptures, porcelain sculpture, pastels, oils, assemblages of cast handmade paper in relief, etched glass panels, stain glass, portraits and hand painted furniture. Most of my commissioned work is custom designed glass panels for architectural installation. Theatrical work includes set and oostume designs for stage plays and operas over the last then years. My subjects may vary from performing arts, cultural motifs, or a special experience, but my singular purpose is to reveal a personal observation, essentially. The awe felt during a solar eclips or the passion intoned by a cellist, the mysteries exposed in ancient canyon rock walls are what inspire me to create, and in turn, nourish my being.
